NGF chairman hails rescue of Oriire pupils, teachers, renews call for release of others The Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), and the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has hailed the successful rescue of pupils and teachers kidnapped from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He described the operation as a significant boost for Nigeria’s security agencies while also admitting that many more victims of kidnappings in other parts of the country have not yet regained freedom.

AbdulRazaq, in a statement released in the wake of the rescue of the victims, congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Government of Oyo State and the country’s security operatives for the achievement.
He stated the operation has proven the potency of intelligence-led operations and collaboration amongst several security agencies.
He also expressed confidence that the operation had brought tremendous relief to the families and loved ones of the freed children and teachers who were in a state of anxiety and trepidation for weeks.
“I commend the professionalism demonstrated by our armed forces, intelligence services, police and other participating security organisations in this crucial operation,” he said.

“I am optimistic that similar coordinated approach and strategy will be employed in dislodging kidnappers, terrorists and all violent criminals across the length and breadth of the country. We urge citizens to support our security operatives with timely and credible intelligence that will enhance ongoing efforts.”
Despite celebrating the positive development, AbdulRazaq stated it is pertinent to mention that there are many families still patiently waiting to reunite with their children and other loved ones who are in the captivity of criminals.
“I am urging for sustained and coordinated efforts by security operatives, especially until all abducted persons are released from captivity and affected communities can begin to truly recover their peace and tranquility,” he added.
This development occurred amidst a growing public attention regarding the plight of the abducted persons from Woro in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State where several civil societies groups are campaigning for more effort to be put in the recovery operation after a lethal terror attack had rocked the town in the early part of the year.

Several CSOs were on the neck of both Federal Government and Kwara state government to exert more pressure on those behind the abductions.
The Oriire children’s abduction had been cited as one of Nigeria’s most successful operations to secure the release of abductees in recent times and underscores the administration’s strategy of intelligence-led, multi-agency operations against terrorism and organized crime.
