Kunle Remi expressed the urgent need for a collective change of attitude in relation to waste disposal and environmental practices as the state faces significant flood damage, displacing commuters and damaging properties. The state is often submerged after moderate to heavy downpour in major locations such as, Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Ajah, Surulere, Ikeja and others.

Despite numerous efforts and financial investment on the development of drainage systems, urban planners and environmental experts maintain that poor waste management is the primary cause of most urban flooding across the state and continue to warn the residents to refrain from disposing waste indiscriminately.
