Prof. Segun Aina, the newly-appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has rolled out a five-year strategic road map featuring seven technology-based reforms intended to improve accountability, efficiency, and stakeholder friendliness of Nigeria’s tertiary admissions system.
JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma,’ the 2026-2031 strategic agenda is framed on the objectives of achieving two over-aching goals, five institutional pillars and seven flagship projects, in line with a pledge to consolidate the progress made by his predecessor and ultimately set JAMB as the most reliable and inventive agency for admissions across the continent.

The reform programme promises amongst other things, independent verification of the technology infrastructure used at JAMB, the establishment of a uniform mobile app, a unified customer service channel, migration to a completely paperless operational system as well as the introduction of the ISO 27001 Information Security standard among several other measures that are set to address staff concerns while enhance internal image and interaction capability for JAMB.

According to Aina, the strategic plan rests on five critical structuresnamely ‘Integrity, Service, Governance, Technology, and Partnerships with a core reliance on modern technology and digital intelligence to facilitate better service provision, public confidence building, as well as decision making.
Aina promised a user friendly admission process, one that would reduce pressure on stakeholders and families of potential students as much as possible.

He also stated emphatically that even in pursuit of its ambitious digital innovation drive, JAMB will maintain a strong focus on all forms of transparency, a sound organizational policy of fairness, and uncompromising adherence to integrity standards in the fulfillment of its overall function.
