Pop star Ariana Grande is to ‘take an extended break’ from public duties after her final Eternal Sunshine tour date next month.
Her representative told People magazine that the “ever ongoing public scrutiny” of her, especially with regards to her health and physical appearance, was too much of a burden. They said that Grande wanted to take ‘a much deserved break from public-facing work’ after her final tour date on September 1.
It was confirmed the day prior to news of the break coming out that the Grammy award winner would be pulling out of a West End production that had been slated for a revival in the capital in 2027 of ‘Sunday in the Park with George.’

At present it had been hoped that she might star in the production of Stephen Sondheim’s classic alongside Jonathan Bailey her co-star in the forthcoming film of Wicked.
The producers for the Sondheim musical confirmed she would now not participate in it although they added they fully accepted her choice which they ‘absolutely’ understood and would ‘re-cast in due course.’
It comes just days after music video “Petal” was released and after the hit maker’s physical appearance was once more discussed in the press and social media. She also recently addressed social media backlash over her ‘changing image’.

“I know you… see a lot of the conversation and concern that have been happening about my body over the past year,” the singer previously said “and I’m just trying to be as healthy and honest as I can be…” Grande is still however due to conclude her latest tour before going on ‘hiatus’.
It is also confirmed that she is still set to co-star with Tina Fey in the new comedy Focker-In-Law later this year.
