More than 24 farmers were killed and others injured while many were abducted during an armed raid on people working in agricultural land in Jangebe District of Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Amnesty International Nigeria disclosed.
This is another heinous attack on rural Nigerian communities, as the victims were carrying out their agricultural activities when the gunmen launched the assault.

Several people abandoned their farm land and escaped into nearby bush when the attack occurred and many are feared missing. “Nigerian authorities must urgently rescue all missing victims, secure vulnerable farming communities and ensure those who committed this cruel act are brought to justice”, added Amnesty International Nigeria.
This killing is only one in a pattern of escalating violence and criminality in northwestern Nigeria. This latest incident follows a series of mass killings, kidnappings, cattle raiding by criminal groups which have displaced numerous farmers and threatening the livelihoods of millions across the region.
Security forces have not yet issued an official statement on the incident and have not yet updated the figure on number of casualties
