The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Sunday said that commercial motorcycles ( Okada) and tricycle operators (Keke) would not be totally banned in Abuja but rather their operations would be limited in some parts of the city as part of the measures to enhance security and traffic control.
Wike said the restriction in some parts of the city would not be for every location because “government is not about a total ban”.

He added that this restriction was because “we are concerned about security issues and in restoring sanity to the congested areas”.
The FCT Administration has tasked security agencies to specify locations that would be affected while affirming that commercial motorcycles were still barred from some central parts of Abuja.

This clarification follows a lingering debate on the fate of commercial motor-cycle and Tricycle operators in Abuja whose means of livelihood have been threatened over the possible total ban of commercial bikes and tricycles.
