The Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Governor of Delta State, Sherrif Oborevwori, Mr. Simon Mudi, who is also popularly known as Temple, demands justice after he sustained grievous injuries in the fracas that marred the meeting of stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central, noting that his head was stitched 11 times over.
Mudi in his response after he had received treatment said in a statement that as he was receiving medical attention that Scores of persons who invaded the ongoing APC Delta Central stakeholders meeting on Monday, beat him up and smashed his head with bottles and plastic chairs leaving him with an 11 stitches, added “My head was stitched 11 times. So many persons descended on me like ravenous animals. I want justice,” he cried.

The meeting at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre in Uvwie LGA of Delta State, was attended by top politicians of APC in Delta, including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Senator Ede Dafinone; Executive Director, NEXIM Bank, Stella Okotete; Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Mr Emmanuel Aguariavwodo; Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Delta State, Mr Isaiah Esiovwa and Honourable Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Delta State, comrade Reuben Izeze, among other stakeholders of the party.
According to SaharaReporters, the ensuing violence that led to the assault on the governor’s aide began after an altercation between Mudi and an unnamed participant in the gathering.

Some eyewitnesses claims the clash started after personal disagreement earlier between him and another person while some eye witness narrated the clash involved “whoever first attacked another person who they suspected of involvement in either ‘The Vikings confraternity’ or another ‘confraternity’. SaharaReporters could not independently confirm any of the claims, regarding supposed cult affiliation of the combatants”.
Some of other eye witnessesHowever blamed Commissioner of Works, Highway and Urban Roads, Mr. Reuben Izeze and Mr. Simon Mudi for engaging in a perennial and long standing political disagreement where followers of either camps threw punches at each other.
However Izeze denied ever instigating the assault on Mudi explaining that Mudi actually attacked someone else and that he wasn’t close by to any of the scuffle when the commotion erupted as many people have accused him.

“I have always warned against any resort to violence in politics.” And that Mudi attacked some people in the hall and some intervention by others escalated it and then Mudi was caught in the middle,” said Reuben.
Also reacting to allegations that he organized and took part in the assault on Mudi; Commissioner of Works, said he was also assaulted during the event and that there were many people present when a chair was flung at him which “knocked my head against a hard object.”
The Honourable Commissioner has since petitioned the leadership of Uvwie Local Government council, alleging and accusing the Uvwie Council Chairman; Rt. Hon. Tony Ofoni and some of his thugs.
They robbed him of about N400, 000 and a designer Swiss Made Guess wristwatch and prescription glasses.

However, The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has condemned the violence which occurred at the APC meeting. They called on the Delta state government and the law enforcement agencies to ensure thorough investigation and bringing perpetrators of the act to justice.
At press time, no arrests have been officially announced and security authorities are yet to make a detailed official statement of investigation progress.
