President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to formally flag off the 2.4 trillion Naira Abuja City Walk Project on Thursday, in what promises to be one of the most ambitious city renewal and infrastructure initiatives ever in Nigeria’s capital city.

This project is aimed at revolutionising the centre of the city into an all-encompassing pedestrian friendly urban axis consisting of contemporary walk ways, green parks, commercial centers, recreational sites, and ancillary transportation.

The project is intended to be a key enabler of the ongoing modernization of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to Government officials, while enhancing its allure to citizens, business, and tourists.

The Abuja City Walk is envisaged to foster a vibrant economy by attracting private capital, expanding business prospects, and generating tens of thousands of jobs-direct and indirect-during both construction and ongoing operations.

Government also anticipate that the initiative will enhance environmental sustainability through extensive landscaping, elevated public areas and the reduction in the need for road vehicles over short distances within the central business district of the city.

Senior government officials, the diplomatic corps, development partners, and private investors are anticipated to be present at the launch, underlining the critical importance placed on the initiative within the current Federal government’s infrastructure programme.

Authorities stated that the development is aligned with the administration’s agenda of establishing world-class infrastructure and improving city-level mobility to make Abuja an internationally competitive city for sustained economic growth and sustainable development.
