One feared missing after suspected kidnap on farm Police authority says their tact team had been deployed to track perpetrators in Oyo – One Matthew Owoade, the Headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State has been abducted on his farm over the weekend, police reports have confirmed.
Mr Owoade is said to be 60 years old. A report by the police says the kidnappers, suspected to be unknown armed gunmen, have seized the veteran educator in his farm where he was attending to crops, whisking him away to an unknown destination.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers in Oyo State also condemned the action as a fresh attack on the education sector.

In their reaction, the teachers demanded that security operatives speed up their rescue mission to ensure Mr Owoade is reunited with his loved ones unhurt.
Their condemnation comes barely weeks after another report confirmed the rescue of dozens of pupils and teachers abducted months earlier on their farmland in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, following an intelligence-driven operation by the military which involved tactical units deployed for the rescue.
According to a security expert who commented on the situation, the attack means that criminal groups and other unidentified armed persons continue to pose a severe threat to communities across Oyo State, especially in their rural and remote areas where police response is often slow.
Residents of the area have also been urged to enhance the security network in communities near the farmland by mounting pressure on the state police command to provide them with sufficient and increased police patrols.

Also farmers have, for a long time now, been exposed to danger on their farmland and are finding it difficult to make ends meet due to their fears over the rise of insecurity, making their work to be like a walk through a deadly mine field.
The local leaders of the Igbojaye communities further advised citizens not to give up their efforts to make the region peaceful and that, any individual who has credible information concerning the whereabouts of the abducted persons must be a part of a mission to ensure that this evil is brought to justice in order to prevent further occurrences.

The state police boss assured that their men had been drafted and already on the trail of the abductors, calling on members of the public to desist from posting false and unverifiable reports about the operation that could undermine it’s progress.
