Authorities have intensively investigated a supposed European “criminal conspiracy,” and the Ukrainian woman who allegedly carried out a bomb attack against a wealthy businessman in the Principality of Monaco is now dead near Kyiv.

Ukrainian prosecutors acknowledged that Berezovska, who was targeted with a Red Notice by the notorious Interpol, was found with shots to the head. Ammunitions was retrieved from the scene, and there’s still no explanation why she died, investigators said.

The authorities in Monaco had been searching for Berezovska since the June 29 bombing of an Austrian-owned property development firm, owned by Ukrainian-born actor and former property developer Vadym Yermolaiev, then a Cypriot citizen. Yermolaiev, his wife and child were hurt outside a Monaco house after an explosion.

Prosecutors accused Berezovska in absentia of conspiracy and attempted murder, claiming she escaped to several European countries before going back to Ukraine.

Since then, two men have been arrested in Ukraine in connection with Berezovska’s killing, one a current officer in the state’s military intelligence agency (HUR) and the other a former police officer.

Authorities said one of the suspects confessed that he was behind a shooting of Berezovska, that he did not notify his superiors. The investigators are also studying any connections between the two men and the bombing in Monaco, such as financial deals with the dead man.

In the search process related to the investigation, the police reportedly took the time to discover another horrific room in the basement of the former police officer’s house, which has been described as a torture chamber.

Forensic tests are ongoing and law enforcement is still questioning the suspects, all of which are working with Monaco officials to figure out who orchestrated and paid for the bombing.
