FIFA officials announced that the rings are being introduced as a means to honour the accomplishment of becoming world champions and to offer participants a physical and lasting memento of the occasion, along with the uplifting of the renowned FIFA World Cup Trophy.

The decision to introduce championship rings aligns perfectly with the unique flavour of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
It also draws upon the traditions of North America where teams winning titles traditionally receive special rings in addition to trophies and medals, stated a FIFA spokesperson.
The introduction of the rings will be made in addition to the traditional gold winners’ medals that have been presented at the culmination of the World Cup final and will be gifted to all members of the victorious squad, as well as select team officials.
