Troops in Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI, in Borno State, have intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics network and arrested six suspects along with a huge consignment of materials believed to be bound for the North East’s terror groups.
The operation, carried out around 4pm on July 19 following intelligence on a suspected supply chain for terrorist activities, saw troops conduct an intelligence-driven stop-and-search of five vehicles used by the six suspects. Operation HADIN KAI said: “A search of the vehicles led to the discovery and recovery of 202 cartons of herbicide, one jerrican of suspected acidic substance, one Starlink Satellite internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertilizer, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.”

Military authorities said items are suspected to have dual-use capability in sustaining terrorist logistic, mobility, communications and general sustainability efforts.
“The recovered fertilisers and the suspected acidic substance would be subjected to further forensic and technical analysis to ascertain their suitability for the production of Improvised Explosive devices (IEDs)”, said a military source.
“This seizure represents a significant disruption to the suspected logistic chain, reinforcing the effectiveness of sustained pressure on suspected logistic nodes in the North East,” it added. “The six arrested suspects and the recovered materials have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation aimed at identifying beneficiaries, network members, financiers and collaborators,” said the military source.

According to intelligence from rescued hostages and families of surrendering terrorists, military pressure has significantly degraded terrorist logistics and supply capabilities.
The military indicated that food shortages, and the absence of medical supplies and communication equipment have prompted many insurgents to abandon their camps, captives and families in the face of sustained military operations.
It reiterated its determination to continue targeting terrorist financiers, logistic providers, informers and collaborators, emphasizing that “disrupting supply chains is one of the most critical pillars for the degradation of the operational capacity of terrorist organisations”.

It called on “the general public to remain vigilant and to provide any useful and timely information to the security agencies”.
