Troops of the 65 Battalion under the command of Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo embarked on an intelligence led operation that led to the arrest of six (6) suspects on economic sabotage at an suspected illegal bunkering site at Orile area in Lagos state.
The arrest and dismantling was done sequel to reliable information received by troop on an illegal petroleum product storage in the area.
Four (4) trucks, one pumping machine, assorted pipes, drums were recovered during the operation.
Suspects and all recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Commending the troops, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, praised their professionalism and urged them to sustain the offensive against illegal bunkering, crude oil theft and other forms of economic sabotage within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The operation forms part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to protect critical national assets, combat oil theft and support law enforcement agencies in tackling crimes that threaten Nigeria’s economy.
