Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has selected former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura, as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Makinde was formally affirmed as the APM presidential candidate at the party’s national convention in Bauchi on Thursday, where Daura was unveiled as his running mate.

Daura served as DSS director-general from 2015 to 2018. Makinde said his security experience was a key consideration in selecting him, particularly amid Nigeria’s continuing security challenges.
The development marks a change from the party’s earlier choice of Ibrahim Adamu Bala, who had previously been named as a placeholder running mate.
The Makinde-Daura ticket now formally enters the 2027 presidential race as the APM positions itself as an alternative political platform ahead of the general election.
