In his message on the freedom of the abducted students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said that the rescue mission carried out by a joint operation of the Nigerian Military, Intelligence Agencies and other security forces is a significant achievement against the current scourge of kidnapping and terrorism in Nigeria.

In his statement, the President said he was delighted that the military, Police and intelligence agencies conducted the operation with success, rescuing 56 days of trauma for the affected families and nation. “I want to particularly congratulate the various military and intelligence units as well as police agencies involved for their exceptional professional coordination, skill, bravery and determination.

President Tinubu revealed that a joint coordinated and intelligence led operation carried out by the Nigerian Armed Forces, DSS, Nigeria Police and others led to the demise of some of the terrorists involved and the arrest of eight(8) culprits of the operation, which is seen as a breakthrough in fighting terrorist networks.
President assured that the freed children and staff will be given adequate medical care, psychological counselling and rehabilitations.

While expressing condolences for the lost teacher, president assured his families that the culprits would face justice.
“I want to use this opportunity to reaffirm this administration’s unflinching commitment to national security and the protection of our schools. Let me state unequivocally that attacks on our schools will not deter us in ensuring access to education for our children across the nation.”
The president also applauded the collaboration from the Government of Oyo State, local community members and intelligence collaborators, whose information was essential to the mission.

Nigerians are called upon to continue providing credible and timely information to the security forces for ongoing operations against kidnappers and terrorists.
This rescue operation by the federal security agencies in Oriire town in the last few months has added another milestone to the sustained Federal government strategy on intel based operations, and the inter-agency collaborations against the menace of insecurity nationwide.
