A member of the Accord Party has allegedly been killed by suspected political thugs in Osun State, just a day before the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 6:00 a.m. on Friday in Omi Eran Atijo community, according to sources cited by SaharaReporters. The victim was allegedly chased by the attackers before being caught and killed.
A video published by the news outlet reportedly shows the victim lying in a drainage surrounded by blood. A relative described the deceased as a family man with a wife and children.

The killing has heightened fears over political violence and voter safety as Osun prepares for Saturday’s election. Residents have reportedly expressed concerns about the security response in the affected community and called for stronger measures to prevent further attacks.
The allegation that the attackers were affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not been independently established. It comes against the backdrop of earlier politically linked killings in Osun, including the June killing of Accord member Ajayi Aderogba, over which APC lawmaker Oluwole Oke and the party denied involvement and called for an impartial investigation.

The latest incident is likely to intensify pressure on security agencies to protect voters, political parties and election officials and prevent retaliatory violence before, during and after the poll.
