The United Arab Emirates has condemned what it described as an Iranian attack on two vessels affiliated with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred on Thursday as the vessels passed through the strategic waterway. ADNOC confirmed that the situation had been brought under control, while details of the vessels and any damage were not immediately disclosed.

The UAE Foreign Ministry described the attacks as acts of piracy and said targeting commercial shipping threatens regional stability, freedom of navigation and global energy security. Abu Dhabi called on Iran to halt such attacks and ensure the unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The latest incident comes amid a sharp escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States. Shipping traffic through Hormuz, a crucial route for global oil and gas supplies, has fallen significantly as vessels face increasing security risks.
The United States has meanwhile threatened stronger economic pressure on Tehran and said its naval blockade of Iran could continue indefinitely, while Iran has linked the reopening of the waterway to demands including sanctions relief and an end to the blockade.

The attacks have heightened concerns over further disruption to global energy markets, with oil prices rising as traders assess the risk of prolonged restrictions on shipping through one of the world’s most important energy corridors.
