In a fresh development, troops of the Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have succeeded in an intercept of a 48 year-old female Chadian individual suspected of carrying drugs, ammunition and hard-to-find alcohol to terrorists in the Lake Chad Islands in Nigeria.
The operation, conducted on 9th July 2026 along one of the search lanes of the Maiduguri–Mongono highway, was pursuant to actionable intelligence.
Troops at the Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State prevented a suspicious motor vehicle moving towards Kwatan Doron Baga where the officers arrested the suspect, who was identified as Mrs Rachael Samuel of Chadian Republic from Kelo, Chari-Baguirmi Province of the republic.

The preliminary findings made by military officers after recovery revealed that the items were being transported to areas around the known operational enclave by the terrorists, the Lake Chad Islands, which include Boko Haram as well as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) forces.
Security operatives found seven compressed bundles of suspected Cannabis sativa worth about N40 million, two 10 litre container of hydromercuric chloride or “Suck and Die,” and 61 bottles of herbal alcohol worth millions of naira, not counting the bottles of dry gin found in a carton which contained 48 bottles.
There was one mobile phone, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, cash and other personal effects recovered. The suspect is now in military custody, and the items recovered have been placed under the custody of police for further investigation and prosecution under extant Nigerian law.

Intelligence “gives a consistent understanding that terrorist groups use illicit drugs, alcohol and other stimulants to boost the morale of their fighters, dispel fear and facilitate violent activity,” military officials observed. Troops on route to intercept the shipment stopped it before it got to its destination, thereby disturbing another vital supply route of insurgents to the Lake Chad region.
The Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI had dug-up and praised the professionalism and vigilance of troops involved in this operation and said that the troops would always make efforts to destruct terrorist logistics and target the collaborators who cooperate to the terrorist activities.

The military also called for the public to keep relaying accurate and updated information as community’s cooperation would remain instrumental in the military’s continued operations for a lasting peace and security in North-East of the country.
