The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu has appealed to private investors to increase investment in the military’s infrastructure, troops welfare and veterans’ care as public private partnerships are indispensable in bolstering Nigeria’s security architecture and sustains military operations.
The Army Chief stated this while receiving the Managing Director, Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), Dr. Ubon Udoh, in the Army Headquarters Abuja, saying investment in critical infrastructures, most especially roads will ameliorate troop’s mobility and logistical capabilities for their rapid deployment and also bolster economic activities in vulnerable communities.

Lt. Gen Shaibu averred that improved welfare and adequate medical care in form of quality healthcare and housing for troops, wounded soldiers and retired veterans is crucial for a motivated, healthy and battle ready armed forces.
He thereafter lauded Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group and ASR Africa for her contributions toward the healthcare of our officers and soldiers and the completion of 120 housing units for soldiers at Giri, Abuja.

Welcoming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval to increase the Nigerian Army size from eight to twelve divisions, the COAS assured that the housing project will play a significant role in supporting our ever increasing fighting force and called on other corporations to take a cue from ASR Africa and invest in activities that contribute to our nation’s security and her armed forces.
In his address Dr. Ubon Udoh stated that the 2 billion allocated for use by the NA through the Security Sector Support Grant of 10 billion by ASR Africa is on course as he reiterated his commitment towards the Armed Forces.
