President Donald Trump has unveiled a new limited-edition United States passport featuring his portrait and signature, a commemorative design created to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Trump revealed the passport design on his Truth Social platform, describing it as the country’s “new passport” and accompanying the image with the message, “Welcome, but be good!” The commemorative document prominently displays the president’s portrait alongside the text of the United States Declaration of Independence and his signature in gold. An adjoining page features the iconic painting of America’s Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence with the inscription “United States of America 250.”
The passport forms part of the America250 celebrations commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States, which will be observed on July 4, 2026. According to the United States Department of State, the special edition will be issued in limited quantities beginning this summer while maintaining the same security features as standard U.S. passports. Only a limited number will be available, primarily through the Washington Passport Agency during the rollout period.
Unlike the standard U.S. passport, the commemorative version incorporates patriotic artwork celebrating America’s founding, with Trump’s likeness becoming a central design feature. The initiative marks the first time a sitting U.S. president’s portrait has appeared inside an official American passport, a decision that has generated widespread discussion across political and public circles.

Standard U.S. passports will continue to be available through online applications and other passport agencies, giving applicants the option of obtaining either the traditional design or, where available, the limited-edition commemorative version.
